MOVING GUIDE
Moving storage guide: from packing, to storage, to delivery to your new home
Key answers
For moving storage, arrange the item list, packing, delivery to storage, storage period and return delivery to the new home together; first confirm how items will be moved in and out of storage, and the quotation scope.
When is it suitable to move first and store afterwards?
If the new home has not been handed over, renovation is not yet complete, or you need to clear the old home first, you can look into storing items temporarily and arranging redelivery later. First confirm which items must stay with you and which can be put away for a period, to avoid storing everything.
Storage enquiries with One Plus One Moving Expert are assessed according to the amount of items, expected period and delivery requirements. Storage does not mean you can enter and collect items at any time; please ask clearly about storage method, collection arrangements and restrictions before confirming the service.
Split the inventory into personal items, storage items and items pending handling
Record the quantity of furniture, appliances and boxes by room, and photograph the original condition of the items. Each box has a box number and brief contents; dismantled furniture is numbered together with its accessory bag. The list is kept in electronic form, and the same record is used for checking when collecting items.
- Keep ID documents, medicine, keys and recent essentials with you
- Do not mix perishable, flammable or hazardous items into the removal load
- Special materials, batteries, liquids and uncertain items should be checked first
- Items to be collected in batches should be marked separately on the list
Keep dry and complete protection before storage
Furniture, clothing and appliances must be cleaned first and fully dried; moisture and dirt must not be sealed in together. Empty drawers, sort small items, protect fragile parts; the packing method depends on the material, structure and storage arrangement.
Moisture protection products are only an aid and cannot replace a suitable environment or guarantee that items will not become damp. Leather, wood, artworks and precision electrical appliances have special requirements; please raise them in advance so the company can confirm whether they are suitable and what arrangements are needed.
The quotation must also check the moving and storage scope
Provide the collection address, the later return address or known district, the volume of items and the expected storage period. Also explain the stairs, parking distance, podiums and lift conditions at both ends, as the routes for delivery to and return from storage may differ.
Check the delivery, storage, packing, dismantling and other items in the written quotation, and clarify the charging period, delays, collection and redelivery arrangements. Any unconfirmed storage rent or extra charges should be confirmed by the company; do not treat item subtotals on the price list as the total storage price.
Before sending it back, confirm the new home is ready
Once the new home can be occupied, first confirm access, lift booking and furniture positions, then contact us to arrange redelivery. If you need to change the address, extend the storage period or arrange phased return, please state this in advance; do not assume all changes can be handled immediately.
When goods are received, check each item against the list, box number and accessories. If there is any issue, keep the photos and packaging and contact the company. After that, unpack in stages according to household needs, and do not mix unchecked items with empty boxes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What steps are included in moving storage?
Usually, a list, packing, warehouse delivery, storage period and delivery to the new home need to be arranged together. The actual items included and the charges are subject to the written quotation confirmed by the company.
Can I go in and collect items from storage at any time?
It cannot be assumed so across the board. Storage method, collection booking, access to and from storage, and related fees must be confirmed in advance; commonly used items should preferably be taken separately.
What items should not be sent directly into storage?
Do not mix perishable, flammable or hazardous items into the removal load. Keep medicines, documents and essential items with you; check first for liquids, batteries and special items.
How is storage charged?
The company will assess the amount of items, storage period, transport and other requirements, then confirm the scope for storage, delivery to warehouse, return delivery, packing or dismantling; the moving subtotal cannot be used as a substitute for the total price.
What if the renovation is delayed or you want to change the return date?
Contact the company early to check the extension period, charges and the new return schedule. If the address or route changes, update it as well; do not assume the original arrangement will remain automatically in place.
