MOVING GUIDE
Preparing a moving quotation: what to enter for the item list, photos and addresses
Key answers
Before requesting a quotation, organise the items, address, moving route and any extra services to reduce repeated information updates, and to make it easier to compare the scope of different quotations.
List the large items first, then add the number of boxes and loose items
Record furniture and appliances item by item by room, including items on the balcony, in the loft or in the storage room. Similar item names may still require different moving arrangements; for example, a sofa bed, electric recliner sofa and standard two-seater sofa should not simply be listed as 'sofa'.
For large items, add length, width, height, quantity and whether it can be dismantled; for cartons, enter the estimated number of boxes and update after sealing. Items not yet confirmed for moving can be marked as pending confirmation first; do not mix them with items already confirmed for moving.
Photos should clearly show the whole item and the surrounding space
Take a full photo of each large item, and if necessary add the back, base and connection points. Do not rely only on partial photos or wide-angle images to estimate dimensions; if weight, material or model are not shown, fill in the known details rather than guessing.
After using the photo recognition tool, still check the list item by item, remove duplicate items and add back any blocked items. Photos may not be able to determine load-bearing capacity, dismantling structure or the contents of boxes. The analysis results are only to help organise the information.
Both the old and new addresses need to have a complete moving environment
Provide both addresses, floors, unit numbers and contact details, and state separately whether there is a lift. Whether a vehicle can stop at the door, how far it is after unloading, and whether there are podiums or stairs before the lift will all affect the arrangement.
- Location of the stairs and approximate number of floors
- Podium, ramp, corner or lift transfer conditions
- Usable dimensions of the entrance, corridor and inside the lift
- Moving time restrictions, vehicle height or unloading restrictions in the building
Explain the moving service and extra services separately
Where packing, furniture dismantling, storage, disposal or demolition is required, mark the corresponding items and requirements individually. Do not only leave disposal items in the moving photos and let the team judge for themselves; state where they will finally be sent and what handling is required.
The price list and moving cost calculator are for estimating the subtotal for transporting items only, and do not mean all services and on-site surcharges are included. Storage period, professional disconnection/reconnection and unspecified items must be confirmed by the company before being included in the written quotation.
Check before submission, then confirm again after any changes
Check the final date, both addresses, the inventory version and any special requirements, and note any uncertainties directly. After receiving the quotation, check what is included and what further information is still needed, and keep the final confirmed version.
If you add items, change the address, change the route or add services after the quotation, please notify the company as early as possible for reconfirmation. When comparing quotations, check the same list and conditions; do not choose based only on the lowest total and overlook differences in scope.
Frequently Asked Questions
What information is needed for an online quote?
Provide item details and quantities, photos, date, both addresses, and any requirements for stairs, parking, podium, lift and extra services. If any information is unclear, mark it as pending confirmation.
Can I get an accurate quote with photos only?
Photos help with identification, but may not show size, weight, obstructing items or the full route. Please check the analysis list yourself, then add the address and site details.
What is the difference between moving cost calculation and an online quotation?
The calculator estimates the subtotal for moving items according to the price list; the online quotation consolidates full service details. Other services and any undecided surcharges will be confirmed by the company before a written quotation is issued.
Does having a lift mean stairs do not need to be declared?
No. If there are stairs from the street to the lift, platform or inside the flat, these must be stated separately; transfers and long carrying distances should also be listed.
Do packing, disposal and storage need to be requested separately?
Yes. Please identify the corresponding items and requirements, and confirm the scope and charges separately. Do not assume all additional services are included in the general moving list.
