Home moving involves the items, building access and handover of the old and new home. One Plus One Moving Expert assesses home moving based on both addresses, the item list and the actual route. Packing, furniture dismantling and reassembly, storage and disposal must be confirmed separately, and cannot be treated as all-inclusive simply by unit area.
In Hong Kong, homes are often small, corridors are narrow, and lifts need to be booked in advance, so moving day can easily become hectic. We plan manpower and vehicles based on your item list, protect first and move second, then place everything in your new home as instructed, so your family can settle in again as quickly as possible.
Home moving: first decide whether to move directly in, store items, or move in batches
Put the old home handover date, new home key collection date and renovation completion date on the same schedule. If the dates do not line up, first split the list into three groups: “items to keep with you”, “items to deliver directly to the new home”, and “temporary storage”. Storage requires separate confirmation of collection and delivery, storage period and return arrangements; moving all the boxes out first does not complete the job.
Sort furniture, appliances and boxes by room. Photos should show the full item and any area that needs dismantling. For large sofas, bed frames and wardrobes, provide length, width and height. The fact that a piece of furniture fits in the new home does not mean it can pass through the doorway, corridor or lift.
When comparing moving company quotations, compare the same scope of service
When comparing quotations, use the same list, the same pair of addresses and the same moving date. Check item by item whether packing, dismantling, stairs, walking route, loading and unloading restrictions, tunnel tolls and parking fees are included; comparing only the total price may not tell you whether the two quotations cover the same work.
Before moving, confirm the lift, available time slots and protection requirements with the management offices of both buildings. On the day, the designated contact person should state which items are to be moved, left behind or disposed of, and direct the placement at the new home; identity documents, cash, jewellery and medicines needed for the day should be carried by yourself.

Home moving is a type of moving service and mainly involves household furniture, appliances and personal belongings. The actual work may be only transportation, or it may also include packing, dismantling or storage. The scope should be clearly set out in the written quotation.
Can I enquire about moving before the new home key collection date is confirmed?
You can first provide the expected date, both addresses and the item list for assessment; the formal moving date and whether temporary storage is needed should be confirmed later, once key collection, handback and renovation arrangements are clearer.
Is a home moving quotation calculated only by room or area?
No. Units with the same floor area may still differ in item quantity, size, stairs and loading/unloading routes. Assess based on the actual list and both environments, and set out the extras and possible add-ons clearly.
